Testbeds are shared development environments that drive innovation by testing and developing new technologies, services, ideas or ways of working. The opportunities for both business and society to contribute to solutions to our common societal challenges increase if they can be quickly and safely tested in simulated or real environments.
The Gothenburg region has a leading position nationally and the most test beds in the country. In recent years, a number of larger and smaller testbeds – in the form of physical facilities and varying degrees of testing in real environments – have been built and developed. In dialogue with the business community, the need to coordinate new initiatives for test beds and make it easier for small and medium-sized companies to participate was identified.
Testbed Gothenburg is a venture that includes the entire city; business, public actors, academia, research institutes, science parks and is a result of the strategic business dialogue that Gothenburg City's municipal board had with representatives of business, academia and institutes.Johanneberg Science Park coordinates regular meetings for testbed actors.
