Positive Footprint Housing – an exemplary model for sustainable living and housing construction
Johanneberg develops a Project Platforms, "Open Arenas", for our three profile areas Urban Development, Energy, Material- & Nanotechnology. The platform offers a neutral environment for interdisciplinary ideas and knowledge exchange.
Riksbyggen's Positive Footprint Housing is one of the projects within Open Arena Urban Development.
Positive Footprint Housing is a collaborative project set in Gothenburg involving Chalmers, Riksbyggen, the University of Gothenburg and Johanneberg Science Park which is intended to create a holistic perspective on and approach to sustainable housing- and urban development with the inhabitants held first in mind. A research-project and a housing-project will be conducted simultaneously, and will mark the beginning of a long-term collaboration where researchers and students can evaluate the most recent results in a full-scale laboratory.
Urban development, Johanneberg Science Park’s platform for interaction and collaboration, offers a neutral environment for exchanging interdisciplinary ideas and knowledge, and will be launched as Riksbyggen finance the efforts of researchers and doctoral students from Chalmers Technical University and the department of social work at the University of Gothenburg to construct a residential building intended to be completed by 2016, in close proximity to Chalmers. The research-project commences in January of 2012 with an initial overview of the knowledge currently at hand, and in the two master-courses associated with the project which were initiated during the fall, students have already given their first presentations.
The ambition of Johanneberg Science Park is also to allow for the project to become an integrated part of the development of Campus Johanneberg and the neighboring area. A part of the city which thrives and draws people both day and night. In this way an area is created which can contribute to increased utility for neighbors, companies, students and researchers. It is important for future growth and for the development of the region.
Keep updated on the progress
We will organize student presentations, seminaries and other such activities, which you are welcome to partake in, and we will also present relevant research results. Announcements will be done on our website and via our newsletter.
