Successful collaboration in open innovation project
Organisations based in the west of Sweden with wide experience of major collaborative projects have jointly produced new methods to ensure more effective collaborations. Eight tools to drive innovation projects forward are being presented on 3 March.
Managing successful innovation projects together with several partners requires functional management and organisation. Otherwise roles and objectives become indistinct, which can lead to loss of involvement and opportunities.
In the ”Open Innovation in regions” project, actors from the business world, the community and the academic world in the west of Sweden are collaborating to produce methods to facilitate major collaborative projects. Based on the participants' expertise and experiences within innovation management, tools are being developed to make management of projects more effective, and to ensure good progress.
The collaboration brings together people and organisations extending from researchers within the field, practitioners within the academic world, consultants from the business world and science parks. The partners have experience of both success and failure in collaborative projects and bring with them practical experience and know-how. An exchange of knowledge which both utilises, highlights and makes available research and experiences in the field.
The methods and the tools developed have been tested during the course of the project and the link to workshops has been apparent. An energising learning by doing process which has expanded the portfolio of tools available to all partners to ensure success.
"We work methodically when we bring together different stakeholders in our Open Arena. The project has contributed effective tools for our everyday work where we collaborate with other actors. We have also tested the tools in our own project and thus been able to discuss interaction and strategy in the projects", says Ann-Marie Strand, analyst at Johanneberg Science Park.
”Open Innovation in regions” is financed by Region Västra Götaland and Sweden's innovation agency, Vinnova.
Participating actors: Chalmers University of Technology , Ecoplan, the innovation company IMCG, Innovatum, Johanneberg Science Park, Science Park Borås, the strategy company Trendie.
